Workshops
We host fun seasonal workshops at the nurseries or at local community group’s premises.
In the Spring we lead participants in making hanging baskets and planted containers while at Christmas we offer table decoration and wreath-making workshops. We also hold occasional events and workshops.
Summer holiday activities for 2026
From 7th August to 31st August we are hosting free activities for children during the summer holidays.
Free limited tickets available through Eventbrite at the links below. If you are unable to attend please cancel your tickets to enable others to use the spaces. All sessions require supervision from a parent/guardian, and age suitability is listed within each link.

Bug Hotel – the little one Monday 10th August
Little nature lovers can make their very own mini bug hotel with a parent or carer.
This fun, creative session is a lovely way for families to spend time together, learn about the tiny creatures that help our gardens thrive, and make something special to take home for the garden, balcony or windowsill.
All materials will be provided and no experience is needed — just bring your curiosity and enthusiasm!
Bug Hotel – the big one Wednesday 12th August
Where little nature lovers and a parent or carer can help build a BIG bug hotel, using recycled and natural materials.
This fun session is a lovely way for families to spend time together, learn about the tiny creatures that help all our green spaces and make something special for them.
All materials will be provided and no experience is needed – just bring your enthusiasm and acceptance you may get a bit muddy!

Wildlife detecting Friday 14th August & Friday 21st August
Little nature lovers and a parent or carer can look for signs of wildlife around us. This fun activity is a lovely way for families to spend time together, be curious and spot mini beasts, birds and mammals.
Spotter sheets and magnifying glasses will be provided and no experience is needed – just look around and listen!
Drop into the nursery shop anytime between 11am and 3pm to take part.

The art of planting – decorate a pot Monday 24th August
Little nature lovers and a parent or carer can decorate a plant pot and sow some seeds. This fun session is a lovely way for families to spend time together, be creative and take home a potted-up piece of summer.
All materials will be provided and no experience is needed – just bring your enthusiasm!
Colouring competition – upto 30th August
Entries should be connected to plants, gardens or nature.
Entrants are welcome to come down to the garden centre for inspiration and we have some art materials if children want to create their entry here.
Paints, colouring pens or pencils can be used.
Drop off your artwork up to A4 size at the garden centre and ensure it has the child’s name, age and a parent or carer’s contact details on the back of it. The competition is open to children of all ages and closes on Sunday August 30th 2026. Winners will be notified by September 11th 2026.
There will be a small prize for the best entry per age and a special family prize for the overall winner of a French Brothers boat trip for a family of 4.
Entries will be on display in the shop.
